News

The Okanagan is known, and loved, for many things: incredible weather, hiking trails leading to breathtaking views, and fun-filled days spent playing on the lake. But if you ask a local what puts the cherry on top and makes life here just that much more special, they’ll probably tell you about their favourite wineries. With 186 licensed wineries across the Okanagan Valley, ranging from unique handcrafted artisan shops, to architectural marvels fit for a king, there’s no shortage of vineyards and vintages to explore.

The Central Okanagan offers a host of award-winning wineries. Right around the corner from the lock-and-leave community of Kuipers Peak and the nature-inspired Sage Water in Kelowna, you’ll find some Upper Mission favourites. Summerhill is beloved in the neighbourhood for its delicious organic wines, many of which are aged in the iconic pyramid that resides at the entrance of the property. Head down the road a little further to find Cedar Creek, where their vibrant wines pair perfectly with locally sourced ingredients prepared and served at the award-winning Home Block restaurant. Hop on your bike and head into East Kelowna for a one-of-a-kind experience at Vibrant Vines, where after the tasting you’ll be handed a pair of 3D glasses as you explore the colourful artworks of Phil Lewis.

Residing in the South Okanagan, just a short drive from the breathtaking views of Hunters Hill, the Naramata wine region feels like it was pulled from the Tuscan countryside and placed into the hills of British Columbia. Home to more than 40 wineries, this spectacular bench provides a world of wine and dining options, each with a unique atmosphere. Ruby Blues brings the fun with their funky tasting room and hand-painted Volkswagen Bus, a perfect place for a sip and a selfie. Polar Grove offers an upscale experience paired with spectacular views and one of the best restaurants in Penticton. Up for something a little different? Head to Elephant Island, a winery specializing in fruit wines, where you’ll taste unique flavours like black current, pear, and cassis.

Life at the master-planned community of Shorerise means you’re just moments away from the Westside Wine Trail, and some of the most incredible wineries in the valley. Explore the awe-inspiring architecture of Mission Hill, and if you’re lucky, you may get a tour and tasting in their cellar, which is carved directly into the rock below the grounds. Catch a show by the house band at the speakeasy below Crown and Thieves Winery, a building designed to look like decaying castle ruins. Do a tasting at Quails Gate then grab dinner on the patio of their Old Vines Restaurant to watch the sunset with a glass of your favourite wine in hand.

With so many incredible, one-of-a-kind wineries to explore, there’s no telling where your journey may take you. If you’re ready to live the Okanagan lifestyle to the fullest, contact us today.
